Hello there, aspiring Pokémon Master! My name is Professor Willow, and I've dedicated my life to understanding the intricate world of Pokémon. I've traversed various regions, witnessed countless evolutions, and studied the fascinating mechanics behind each transformation.
So, you're curious about evolving Tangela in FireRed, are you? An excellent question, and one that often sparks debate amongst trainers. Let me shed some light on this intriguing Pokémon conundrum.
Tangela, the Vine Pokémon, is a fascinating creature with its origins shrouded in mystery. Its body, eternally concealed by thick, blue vines, has piqued the curiosity of researchers and trainers alike. We know it's a Grass-type Pokémon, but its evolutionary path has long been a subject of speculation.
Here's the crux of the matter: **in FireRed, and indeed in all Generation 1 and 2 games, Tangela does not evolve.** It's true! While many Pokémon undergo transformations as they level up, Tangela remains unchanged. It's a peculiar case, as if this enigmatic Pokémon has yet to unlock its full potential.
Now, I understand this might come as a disappointment. Many trainers, eager to witness the full extent of a Pokémon's power, strive for evolution. However, the absence of an evolved form doesn't diminish Tangela's strength. It's still a capable battler, boasting impressive Defense stats and access to a variety of powerful Grass-type moves.
The lack of evolution shouldn't deter you from adding Tangela to your team. Embrace its uniqueness! Train it well, nurture its strengths, and it will prove to be a valuable asset in your quest to become a Pokémon Champion.
While we may not have an evolution for Tangela in FireRed, the world of Pokémon is vast and ever-changing. Perhaps, in future generations, we might yet see Tangela embrace a new form, unveiling the secrets hidden beneath its verdant veil. Until then, let us appreciate this intriguing Pokémon for the unique and powerful creature it is.

2 Answers. In FireRed, Tangela does not learn Ancient Power at level 38, and in fact, does not learn it at all. ... If you want to teach Tangela Ancient Power because you want to evolve it into Tangrowth, unfortunately you can't do that in FireRed either, because Tangrowth only exists as of Gen 4.
